About the event

The tour is guided and involves a half mile of walking along a paved path.  The tour guide will tell you about each individual animal, the history of Tiger Creek, and their mission.  There will also be an opportunity to meet their ambassador animals and view/interact with items from their conservation box. The tour usually takes about an hour and a half.  It can take longer if the group has lots of questions, which the tour guide does not mind answering.

The cost will be $6.50 per student and $10 per parent or adult.  Children 3 and under are free.  After the tour, you can check out their store (only 5 are allowed in the store at a time).  If you wish to pack a lunch, they have a picnic area for you to enjoy your lunch.  They request that an adult be available for each group of 10 students.  I think that with parents accompanying their child(ren), that we should have enough adults.

The tour is to begin at 10:30 a.m.  I gave you the time of 10:15 a.m. so you would have time to park and look for our group; not wanting you to feel rushed.

=======================

Here are their guidelines which they would like everyone to read:

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Tiger Creek is open rain or shine. We can reschedule if the weather prohibits a safe/enjoyable experience.

Arrival and Parking

All vehicles park for free. Plan your travel and entrance times accordingly. Group members will check in at the Visitor Center. The group will wait in front of the Visitor Center for their tour guide.

Lunches

Groups can bring their lunches to the sanctuary and eat in our outdoor picnic area. We do not have lunch storage on grounds. We advise groups to hand out lunches at their vehicles or bring wheeled coolers/carts to transport them.

Prepare Your Students

Students must always stay with chaperones. Please review the Code of Conduct with your students.

Code of Conduct

Parents and chaperones will be held responsible for student conduct. Any behavior that endangers the safety of our animals, staff, or other visitors will result in your group being expelled from our facility.

• DO always ensure students stay with their assigned chaperones.

• DO understand that animals, like us, need rest and privacy. If an animal is not visible, check back later.

• DO pick up your trash. Trash cans are widely accessible all around the sanctuary. Please pick up after

yourself and help keep our space clean and safe for our animals.

• DO stay on pathways.

• DO walk, not run.

• DO use quiet voices.

• DO be patient and look all around the enclosure. Animals are adapted to blend in with their

surroundings. They may be resting nearby.

• DON’T feed animals. They are on a carefully balanced diet.

• DON’T climb on rocks, walls, or fences.

• DON’T deface Tiger Creek property.

• DON’T pick plants or flowers.

• DON’T tap on glass, scream, spit, and/or throw objects of any kind into enclosures. This behavior is disrespectful and will not be tolerated.

Your Chaperones:

We require one adult chaperone for every 10 students. Make sure each chaperone understands the following:

• Chaperones must always remain with their assigned students.

• Any behavior that endangers the safety of our animals, staff or other visitors will result in your group being expelled from our facility. Please be sure all chaperones review the Code of Conduct.

• Inform your chaperones of times and locations for arrival, any scheduled programs, lunch, and departure times.

• Inform your chaperones where to go for emergencies, lost children, and lost & found.

• Dress for the weather and walking.

Additional Information:

• Please do not bring roller skates or roller blades, skateboards, scooters, or bicycles into our sanctuary.

• Our front gate does not open until 10am. Anyone arriving earlier than 10 am will NOT be allowed in for safety reasons. This is non-negotiable.

• Due to staffing constraints, the earliest our field trip tours start is 10:30 am.

• There is a gift shop on site that students are welcome to shop in 5 at a time. Please ensure students know how much money they have and understand that sales tax will be added to the cost of their item(s) before they check out.
